TECHNOLOGY • IRIS

Iodine extracted from industrial waste water.

IRIS is the first direct iodine extraction process built for oilfield produced water — selective, modular, and engineered to bolt onto the infrastructure you already operate.

ABOUT IRIS

The first direct iodine extraction from produced water.

IRIS is Altillion’s novel process for direct iodine extraction from oilfield produced water. It runs without blowout towers, without excessive feed concentration limitations, and without the scale or capital footprint of incumbent producers.

The result: high-purity crystalline iodine, produced where the brine already flows.

Selective by design.

IRIS targets iodine specifically, at any iodine concentration – no excessive pre-conditioning or pre-concentration of the brine is required to recover profitable product.

Built on what works.

Commercially proven equipment in a novel configuration — engineered for global energy operators and the brines they already handle.

Modular & deployable.

IRIS facilities are skid-built and modular — minimizing on-site construction and de-risking siting across multiple basins.

SOURCES

IRIS ties into existing produced water infrastructure.

IRIS leverages a simplified process to produce iodine from existing infrastructure, such as batteries, risers, SWDs, or treatment facilities.

MASS PURITY

Altillion’s process achieves 99.664% mass purity, above the 99.500% mass purity of standard iodine samples, with lower aluminum, silicon, calcium, and sulfur impurities.

MARKET

IRIS will be the global leader in low-OPEX iodine production

Iodine demand is rising while incumbents face environmental and deployment constraints. Meanwhile, the U.S. remains a net importer despite extensive brine resources. IRIS will fill the gap.
